Tyler Schillereff- Bird Dog Trainer

Tyler grew up at Sauvie Island Kennels helping his parents clean kennels and exercise dogs. As soon as he was big enough, he began helping Tim train bird dogs in the field. In high school Tyler played varsity football and baseball. He attended Oregon State University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business & Finance. Today, he is our Upland Bird Dog trainer and competes in AKC field trials. He and his wife Maggie live on the island with their dogs Dale, Renzo and Lily and their two horses Guido and Sauce. Christine Schillereff - Manager & Obedience Trainer

Christine began working at Sauvie Island Kennels in 2012 during her holiday breaks from Oregon State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management and Environmental Economics & Policy. Her passion for animals came from her mom who fueled her love for horses, cats and dogs from birth. She and her husband Nick live with their yellow lab Miley, four mini donkeys and son Gavin. When not in the office or obedience training, Christine can be found at Oak Island Farms where she manages the family’s farm-to-table beef and pork program. In her free time she enjoys getting lost in a good mystery, exploring the farm and spending time with her family.

Martin Vargas Izazaga- Facility Manager

Martin has been with us since 2005 when he joined our team as a kennel tech. Today he manages our facilities, maintains the buildings and cares for our sprawling acreage. He is often behind the scenes doing all of the chores necessary to keep the kennels running. Martin and his wife Carmen live on the property with their two kids and darling Pomeranian Oreo. When not working, Martin is a dedicated family man who enjoys taking his kids camping, biking around the island and spending time with extended family. We are grateful for Martin’s many years of loyalty.
